Sometimes it pays to look “conservative.”
This summer has been replete with my cousins’ weddings, culminating with a quick turn as a bridesmaid* this past weekend during my cousin Sarah’s wedding. The last 3 months of family-time, captured in picture upon picture, has allowed us to see how similar we all are in both personality and physicality. One of my favorite examples is this picture of my father and I, from our hair color to our twin grimace-like facial expressions, I laughed aloud when this shot popped up on Facebook.
My father captioned it as “talking about the economy….Laura is reassuring me that I will get Social Security.” Which, given my family’s sense of humor, I find quite funny.
*How awesome is my updo!? Nora, this style is going into the hamlet playbook.
Speaking of Laura … kicking ass and taking names is serious business. That girl can play some Foosball.
This was after dinner in the Whiskey Wind Tavern, Greenport’s towny dive. We were surrounded by dudes like scuba divers in a shark cage. The world is a very different place outside New York City. Very different indeed.
Even with a serious handicap (we were down a center fullback), full bellies, and a drink (or three) under our belts, Nora and I completely dominated that game.
We’ll be touring next spring.
GPOYW (I miss my dog edition)
Sammy would love to run in Prospect Park on a day like today.
